The overall purpose of the Cape Fear Chapter’s Beachscape Coastal Mapping Program is to take a detailed inventory of our local coastal resources. The information gathered will become a vital part of our efforts to preserve and protect the resources in our local area.
Our coastal mapping efforts will initially focus on providing information to any individual or group interested in learning about current issues regarding Beach Access, Surfing Areas, Water Quality Issues, Water Quality Monitoring Efforts, Beach Re-nourishment Projects, and Critical Habitats in the Cape Fear Coastal Region.
Our plan is to make all of the information, maps, photos, reports, resources and contacts, available to the public through this web page.
Currently the chapter is working with Mike Arkinson, a GIS Manager from New Hanover County. Mike has been working to collect and present the data. For information on how to volunteer for this Cape Fear Chapter's activity, please contact Sean Ahlum or leave a message on our voicemail hotline at 910-256-0233!
